Maternal Death Review

Maternal Death Reviews at the level of the CMOH and the District Magistrate are held regularly to find the gaps that may have led to the maternal death and recommend corrective measures to bring down the MMR.

With a view to improve maternal care and decrease maternal deaths the following district level initiatives have been taken:

  • Mothers' Picnic to make mothers aware about the ANC, PNC and Immunisation services available and build confidence in them to have institutional deliveries at the nearest delivery point and also ensure that the children are fully immunised. This innovative initiative of the district has been accepted by the state as the Alipurduar model and is being replicated in other districts of the state.
  • Specialist Clinic for PWs: Monthly Specialist Clinics are held in all Rural Hospitals (6) and Jaigaon PHC for better screening and management of High Risk Pregnancies and handholding support to the peripheral MOs by the specialist.
