NLEP

National Leprosy Elimination Programme (NLEP), which once functioned with dedicated staff, is now implemented by Multipurpose Health Workers. Screening of the suspects is done at the village level by the ASHAs/ANMs/MPHWs and confirmed by Medical Officers. Full course medicines (MDT kits) are available and provided to those having leprosy. For those having deformities, reconstructive surgery is organised by the department. The prevalence of leprosy in Alipurduar is 0.XXX per 1000 population. Apart from routine leprosy prevention and control works, special interventions like the Leprosy Case Detection Campaign (LCDC) and Sparsh campaigns are organised.
