National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and (NPCDCS) presently encompasses screening of all persons above 30 years of age for diabetes and hypertension at the sub-centre level. Those suspected of diabetes or hypertension are referred the Medical Officer at the nearest hospital for confirmation and provision of Free anti-diabetics and anti-hypertensives.
Non Communicable Disease (NCD) clinics run at each Rural Hospital and the DH, Alipurduar, the same being provided with a Counsellor and Data Entry Operator each.
Currently, Population Based Screening (PBS) for people above the age of 30 years has begun in 10 sub-centres of Alipurduar – II block wherein eligible beneficiaries are screened for diabetes, hypertension, cancer and oral health at the ASHA level followed by referral to the SC and PHC/Hospitals for confirmation and management where applicable
