Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) is weekly pre-identified and prioritised reporting of health events of national, state and regional importance from the Sub-centres (S form), Diagnostic laboratories (L form), including those attached to hospitals and from both, private and public and from hospitals (private and public) having Medical Officers P form). All the 3 types of reports reach the Disease Surveillance Unit (DSU) at the district headquarters, where the same is analysed by a team headed by the Deputy CMOH-II cum Disease Surveillance Officer.
Whenever clusters of health events are observed, they are verified for an outbreak, which is confirmed, is investigated and the health event managed. For the outbreak response, multi-sectoral Rapid Response Team consisting of members from the PHE, Animal Resource Department, Pathology, Microbiology and specialist MOs (Physician, Paediatrician and Skin specialist) is in place.
